The two photo below to the left is of Merlin at about 5 months old.  And the one to the right is of Merlin now at 8 months old.

Merlin has grown up so fast!  But the silvers do get so incredibly awesome that it really is OK.  Although most silver tabbies will not get any lighter than Merlin looks in the picture beneath, Merlin is actually considerably lighter than this.  The flash on my camera always emphasizes any barring that exists.  We had our fabulous boy out for a walk on his leash the other day and he absolutely sparkled in the sunshine.  Hopefully we'll remember to take the camera out with us for our next walk and get some great pictures of him in natural lighting.  We thought for the longest time that Merlin would be a shaded silver because of how light he was at birth.  And he may yet be since he is now lightening up again.  Mature coat color can take as long as 1 1/2 to 2 years though.  So, don't hold your breath!
